Understanding Jio Prime
Starting March 1, the existing 100 million Jio customers can opt for Jio Prime subscription at Rs 99. This enables you Jio Prime subscription for the first year.
Once Jio Prime’s enabled on your number, you can opt for the free voice, data and SMS program, as in the existing Happy New Year offer, by paying Rs 303 a month.
At Rs 303 a month, users will continue to enjoy 1GB 4G internet for free every day for 28 days.
There are no updates on Jio Prime’s cost after the first year. For the first year, it’s discounted to a special pricing of Rs 99 an year.
Subscription to Jio Prime has to be done by March 31, failing which users will have to opt for normal Jio packages starting April 1.
Users who do not opt for the Rs 303/month plan after subscribing to Jio Prime can choose a tariff plan off the existing Jio plans.
There has been an update to the available tariff plans for Jio Prime users. Starting April 1, Jio Prime users can opt for 8 more plans in addition to the Rs 303 Jio Prime plan. The list of available Jio Prime plans are put up here.
Important note: Clearing some air on free usage options with Happy New Year offer, it is important to note that all users joining Jio or porting to Jio will get free unlimited benefits until March 31 as a part of the Happy New Year offer. Users joining Jio or porting to Jio from the 4th of March will have to enable the Jio Prime plan at Rs 99 (one-time fee) to enable Happy New Year offer (unlimited data and call benefits until March 31). Starting April 1, all Jio Prime users can opt for Jio Prime plans as shown above, or the regular Jio tariff plans. Users who have not subscribed to Jio Prime can opt for regular Jio plans. Via
Number termination: Reliance Jio holds the right to disconnect the account if a minimum recharge of Rs 149 is not done every month. 90 days of inactive usage would result in account termination.
